Why Stitched Florals Read Differently
A printed floral is an image of a flower. A stitched one is built out of thousands of individual color decisions, which is why it holds up close and why it does not go flat under lamplight the way a print does. Wool takes dye in a way that gives depth rather than brightness, so a needlepoint rose looks less like a photograph and more like the botanical illustration it descends from.
