Getting the Breed Right Is the Whole Gift

Nobody with a dog wants a generic dog. They want a black lab with the right head shape, or a dachshund with the right length, or a specific terrier that most stores render as a vague shaggy shape. The collection is organised by breed for exactly that reason, because a near-miss is worse than not trying. If you are buying for someone else, check a photo of their dog against the design before you order. The person receiving it will notice within two seconds either way.

Why a Pillow Beats the Rest of the Category

Dog gifts skew toward things that get used once: the novelty mug, the sign, the ornament that comes out in December. A pillow sits in the room the dog is actually in, gets leaned on, and stays there. Hand-stitched wool holds up to that. It is one of the few dog gifts that becomes furniture rather than clutter, and one of the few that still looks right in a room decorated for adults.

Needlepoint or Embroidery

Needlepoint is worked stitch by stitch in wool on canvas and holds fine detail, which is what you want for markings, coat texture and the shape of a face. Embroidery on cotton is lighter and reads cleaner at a distance, better suited to graphic or simplified treatments. Both are hand-worked. Each product page states which, so you always know what you are choosing.

Buying for Someone Else

Two things go wrong. The breed is close but not right, and the colour fights the room. The first is fixable by checking a photo. The second is worth a moment's thought: most of these designs sit on a neutral ground precisely so they land in a room you have not seen. If you genuinely do not know the room, choose the piece with the quietest background rather than the boldest.

Frequently asked questions

Do you have my specific breed?

Ask. The catalogue runs deeper than any one collection page, new designs land regularly, and if a breed is coming we will tell you honestly rather than guess.

Are these handmade?

Yes. Needlepoint stitched in wool on canvas, or hand embroidery on cotton. Every product page states its construction.

What if I get the breed wrong?

Returns are accepted within 30 days on new, unused items in original packaging. Better to check a photo first, but you are not stuck with it.

Do they come with inserts?

Yes, a poly insert with every pillow, and a zippered back so it can be swapped or removed. Select designs offer a down fill upgrade, shown on the product page when it applies.

Is a pillow safe around the actual dog?

It is a pillow, so it will get sat on, which is fine. Wool holds up well to that. What it will not survive is chewing, so treat it as furniture rather than a toy.
